Farm Fresh

Every Saturday morning, there's a farmers market in West Bend. I used to live right downtown where I could just walk right out my door and be there. Now, it's not quite so convenient. Combine that with not getting up and moving in the morning and it equals a long time since I've been down to the market.

I got up today. Got a cup of coffee and wandered around a bit. Bought some veggies, bread and the hottest pepper cheese ever.

And as if that's not enough, St. Mary's is having their annual fair. St. Mary's is less than a block away. There'll be polka music playing all day long. It's sort of a if-you-can't-beat-em sort of deal, so I'll probably wander over there later.

There was lots of this...

And some of this...

And a group of old-folk musicians. That's old folks, not elderly folk music types. This guy was 92 years old and I kid you not he could still kick his legs up...higher than I could. That's awesome for him - a bit sad for me. Outkicked by a 92 year old...jeez, that just aint right. He's the one in the blue, by the way. The kid in the red couldn't kick as high as either of us. At least I wasn't the worst kicker.

I 'm going to a Farmer's Market for the first time this year! I'll keep an eye out for energetic 90-something-year-old folk musicians!

These pics are so great, I'm outta my gourd!!!

I know, cheap.

These are fantastic. Wish the sunflowers were right out front.

The little guy had a diaper handicap. You can only raise your leg so high when encumbered by a diaper.

The old guy should be disqualified. He probably has a broken hip making him especially flexible.

Or maybe he has some other old guy ailment, or surgery that frees up space and flexiblity in the general hip area.

Maybe he is an android. You just never know.

Tmom - I don't accept that argument. I'm not using the diaper excuse even though the extra bulk is a bit confining. I say - work with what you got kid and quit the gripin'.

Melissa - That could be. I never considered the possibility of a bionic limb or anything...

Alas, no.

The old guy was just a funny, hip little dude who's still in great shape. He actually walked up and said, "I'm 92 years old you know."

Then he said, "Pick a leg."

And proceeded to kick it up on top of the garbage can.

Weird shit happens to me all the time.

I love our Farmer's Market. I bought the freshest smelling lavendar soap ever and some avacados that were to die for.
Cool pics.

I'm having Farmer's Market withdrawels. They shut 'em down in the heart of the summer down here. Can't wait till they all start back up in the fall.

It's amazing just how cool it is to go to a farmers market isn't it? I think we all feel a bit like we're missing something when all we do is shop at the mega-grocery.

Fabulous photos!

There is a farmers market in DT St Paul only blocks from where I work, yet I haven't taken the time to go there yet. Summer's almost over! I will be sure to go soon, now that it's tomato season...
